Convert Doc transforms your text-based documents – especially those produced using Microsoft Word – into PDF files and vice versa. The conversion process is simple and straightforward, and it gives your the flexibility to use either Convert Doc’s own PDF conversion algorithms or those provided by MS Word itself. A third “conversion method” is used when converting PDF files into text-based documents.

Though the program’s interface may look a bit crowded and not very intuitive at first glance, it is actually a very simple one. The window is clearly divided into three main sections – the process section, the input section, and the output section. Thus, you need to decide first if you want the program to convert a document straight away, or if you want to run some “special processes” on the input text first. The former will take you to the input and output sections, while the latter will let you perform a number of corrections and enhancements in the original document first in order to achieve a better output. These processes include removing empty lines, concatenation of various documents into one single output file, and searching and replacing the strings of your choice. These useful operations can be performed on a single document or in all the documents in a certain folder.

The conversion process itself is extremely simple, and in most occasions, highly rewarding. It is important to highlight that conversion from PDF to any of the text-based formats supported renders stunning results. Especially RTF/DOC/DOCX to PDF conversions. The program managed to transform complex PDF files – complete with columns, images, headings, footnotes, etc. – into perfectly structured Word files. Some similar tools do so by “taking pictures” of the PDF pages, but Convert Doc replicates the original layout without losing the text or any of the attributes of the original document. Surprisingly, the inverse conversion process (from text to PDF) is not always that successful. And this is unusual, mainly because of the plethora of excellent PDF creation algorithms already available in the market.
